Hyundai is all set to introduce the 1.5-litre petrol motor in the base E variant of its popular Creta midsize SUV in our country.
Previously, customers who chose the base model had only the 1.5-litre diesel model to choose from. But with the price difference between petrol and diesel fuel not that big at present and since more customers are choosing petrol cars, this is a very logical choice from the carmaker.
Further, there are other cosmetic changes that the Hyundai Creta E variant will get and they are silver skid plates front and rear and side sill garnish that also come in the same silver finish. Both the petrol and diesel cars will have these.
Other than that, the base E variant will come with features such as ABS, EBD, dual airbags, rear parking sensors, 3.5-inch digital cluster, cooled glove box, TPMS, electric windows, keyless entry, among others.
The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor (that could so far be had only from the EX trim onwards) produces 115 PS at 6300 RPM and 144 Nm at 4500 RPM. It will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox on the base trim and the powertrain will return a claimed 16.8 km/l.
Pricing is expected to be a very attractive proposition with the new petrol base variant on the Creta. While the EX petrol and E diesel both cost Rs. 9.99 lakhs (ex-showroom), the base petrol is likely to cost about Rs. 1 lakh less than the above trims given how Hyundai prices variants in its range.
