The Hyundai Creta was launched in India in the month of July 2015. Over the span of one year, this SUV has managed to garner close to 80,000 unit sales for Hyundai. There is no doubt then, that the Creta has proven to be nothing short of a huge success for Hyundai. To celebrate this achievement, and to capitalise on the upcoming festive season sales boost, Hyundai has just unveiled an anniversary edition for its Creta, which will be officially launched next month.

Apart from the unveil, the car was gifted to Saina Nehwal as a congratulatory gesture for winning the 2016 Australian Open. The 26 year old badminton sensation won the finals against China’s Sun Yu, with a score card of 11-21-21-14-21-19. She is one of the most decorated athletes in India, having won the Arjuna award, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, the Padam Shri and Padam Bhushan. She also has an Olympic bronze medal from the 2012 London Olympiad.

The Hyundai Creta Anniversary Edition majorly receives cosmetic updates and changes to distinguish itself from the regular model. The updates include a blacked out roof, which provides a very good contrasting effect when paired with the lighter shades offered with the SUV. Hyundai has also added red and grey decals in the doors, and a 1st anniversary edition badge on the C-pillar.

The anniversary edition also gets 17-inch diamond cut alloys provided on the higher trims of the regular popular SUV. This, coupled with the all-black interiors goes miles in uplifting the feel of the Hyundai Creta. The interiors gets a red and black dual-tone finish, which resembles that found on the i20 Active. The AC vents too get orange surrounds which give the interiors a fresh appeal.

Mechanically, the Hyundai Creta Anniversary Edition remains the same. The SUV is powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine, which outputs 122 HP of power and 152 Nm of torque. The diesel Creta gets a 1.4-litre unit, which churns out 88.7 HP of power and 219.7 Nm of torque, and a 1.6-litre engine which outputs 126.2 HP of power and 259 Nm of torque. Pricing details have not been revealed yet.
