The Korean car maker, Hyundai Motors will be launching the LPG variant of its latest compact hatchback, the Eon in the Indian market very soon in the near future. The company has announced that it has started production of the LPG Eon at its Chennai manufacturing facility. The LPG Eon will likely be launched at the upcoming 2012 Auto Expo to be held in from 7th to 11th of this month. The Eon LPG will be getting a factory fitted LPG kit along with its existing 32 litre petrol tank. Similar to the recently launched i10 LPG called the i10 Blue Drive, the Eon LPG will also feature an ARAI certified LPG kit that will be impact resistant as well. Hyundai also announced that it has started to export its Eon to overseas markets from its Chennai facility from December 2011 starting with Algeria.
Hyundai launched the Eon in the Indian market last year as directly competes with the hugely selling Maruti Suzuki Alto. The Eon is powered by a 3 cylinder 814 CC motor which churns out 55 BHP @ 5500 RPM and 75 Nm torque @ 4000 RPM. The car returns an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 21.1 kmpl. It is mated to a 5 speed gearbox and the car can hit a top speed of about 130 kmph. At the front, it is suspended on Mcpherson strut with coil spring on both sides with anti roll bar while at the rear it gets Torsion beam axle with coil spring with gas shock absorbers. The car rides on 145/80/12 and 155/70/13 spec tires depending on the variant. The company is offering 6 variants in total for the Eon with the top of the line model having features like Drivers Side Front Airbag, Keyless Entry with Central Locking.
