Hyundai Motor India has launched the Grand i10 ‘Sportz Edition’ to commemorate the first year of successful sales of the hatchback in the country. Launched in September 2013, the South Korean automaker has sold over 1.1 lakh units of the Grand i10 that has been a consistent seller in the popular B-segment averaging around 10,000 units per month. Competing against the likes of Maruti Ritz, Ford Figo, Chevrolet Beat and the likes in the segment, the Grand i10 was quick to grab the market share from other automakers offering well equipped interiors and frugal engine options.
Highlights on the 2014 Hyundai Grand i10 Sportz Edition include aesthetic upgrades in the form of blackened B-pillar, new body graphics, the addition of a rear spoiler and 14-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. On the inside, the South Korean manufacturer adds steering mounted audio and Bluetooth controls, leather wrapped steering wheel and the seats have been fabric upholstered in dual-tone red and black shades that extend to the door trims and dashboard, in contrast to the beige and black interiors on the regular model.
The Grand i10 Sportz Edition gets no mechanical changes under the hood and is powered by the same 1.2-litre 4-cylinder, Kappa petrol engine producing 83 PS of peak power, paired to a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission. Diesel duty on the other hand is performed by the 1.1-litre 3-cylinder CRDi engine that produces 71 PS of power, paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. The diesel mill also makes the Grand i10 one of the most fuel efficient cars in the country returning 24 km/l. The company most recently added an LPG equipped variant to the hatchback’s lineup. Hyundai Grand i10 Sportz Edition is priced at Rs. 5,11,550/- for the petrol version and Rs. 5,98,554/- for the diesel version (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
