The Hyundai Alcazar (Creta 7-seater) has been spotted on test in 2 different States as the carmaker continues to develop the new model.
MotorBeamers Bhargav and Jaid spotted the development mule in Hyderabad and Pune, respectively, and the video posted above is that of the SUV seen at the Telangana capital.
Only the rear and side angles of the SUV are visible, and although the back of the car is completely covered, it is evident by the shape of it that Hyundai has redesigned the section completely.
Also, it looks like the model on test in Hyderabad is fairly well equipped, for it features dual-tone alloys and split LED tail lights.
Admittedly, the image of the Hyundai Alcazar spotted in Pune is much clearer and we can see more details such as a taller roofline at the back to provide more headroom for third row occupants.
Further, the model has a larger rear windscreen and the number plate is housed higher up the redesigned tail gate. Also, the car has running boards.
Based on the hugely successful Creta, the Alcazar will feature a similar front profile, though some changes like a revised grille will be made be made to differentiate the 2 models.
Inside, apart from the additional row of seats, which might be best left for kids to use, the Alcazar is likely to mimic the Creta completely. So, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, connectivity tech, digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, among many other features will be offered.
It is probable that the carmaker might equip its newest model with more features, which will help its cause, for the Alcazar will command a premium over the Creta.
Customers would be able to choose between 1.4-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options that already are present under the Creta’s bonnet. It is speculated that Hyundai might leave the 1.5-litre petrol engine out of the fray, while gearbox options will stay as they are.
Expected to be launched by the second quarter of this year, the 7-seater SUV will go against the 2021 Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and the upcoming Mahindra XUV500.
