30 percent of the 1.5 lakh votes have been in support of the Santro name.
The finalising of the name of the Hyundai AH2 as Santro doesn’t come as a surprise as that is how we have been referring to the small hatchback all throughout. The fact that the company has brought in the hatchback as too many people were enquiring about the car even after its discontinuation is a testament to how relevant it is to each and every Indian household.
The ‘Hyundai Namkaran’ is the name of the campaign and has received 1.5 lakh entries so far. This is expected to increase three folds by the time the campaign ends on 15th September 2018 and the wait begins for the all-new Hyundai Santro to go on sale in the Indian market. The Santro will be unveiled to the public on 23rd October 2018.
The Hyundai Santro will be positioned below the Hyundai Grand i10 and will become the company’s cheapest car on sale when the Hyundai Eon gets discontinued by the end of 2018. The Santro will get large headlights with fog lamps placed just under them. The front fascia is likely to be inspired from the Kia Picanto but the car will be smaller in size.
The Hyundai Santro is expected to be powered by a 1.0-litre, petrol engine that will have an option to be paired with a manual or an automated manual transmission (AMT). It will also happen to be the first car from Hyundai to come with an AMT that will aid in city driving. The affordable hatchback will rival the Datsun redi-GO, Maruti Wagon R and Renault Kwid when launched.
