Power Cruisers are certainly grabbing much attention in recent times as the bikes provide the prowess of a sports bike coupled with the comfort of a cruiser. After the Italian motorcycle marquee Ducati started this segment with the Diavel, several other manufacturers have jumped onto the idea with the most recent being our very own Bajaj with the Pulsar 400 CS concept. Now, South Korean motorcycle manufacturer Hyosung has released the sketches of the ST7 Power Cruiser Concept that could be showcased at the 2014 EICMA in Milan that will be held in November this year.
While the current generation ST7 receives the quintessential cruiser style that competes more with the Harley cruisers, the ST7 Power Cruiser has been designed by DSK International School of Design (ISD) and boasts of a completely different style taking inspiration from the big daddy of all, the Ducati Diavel. The ST7 Power Cruiser sports sharp lines, an aggressive stance and a strong on-road presence. The massive fuel tank and the low seating position only add to the appeal of the power cruiser concept. The concept also marks a huge departure of Hyosung’s design philosophy for something far more radical.
However, despite being inspired by the Ducati Diavel, do not expect the ST7 Power Cruiser to compete with the same. While the Diavel comes with a 1198cc Testastretta V-Twin engine that produces a mind numbing 162 HP of power and 130 Nm of torque; the ST7 Power Cruiser will most likely be a bit more humble and could come with the same 678cc liquid-cooled L-Twin engine that produces around 58 BHP of power from the current model.
It is highly unlikely that the Hysoung ST7 Power Cruiser could impress the western markets, but it is certainly the developing nations like ours that will benefit from this model. The Power Cruiser looks coupled with a low seat, aggressive lines and a potent motor will surely attract quite a few buyers. Hyosung can definitely capitalise on the growing appetite for bigger displacement in the country. Hyosung’s production plans regards the concept are still unknown. It is also unclear whether the bike will even make it to production. Nonetheless, we do hope that the Power Cruiser makes it to production, it will definitely be a head turner.
