2023 Honda City Facelift Hybrid

The Uttar Pradesh Government has announced a waiver for registration fees of strong hybrid cars in the state which comes across as a big relief for car buyers because the on-road prices will now come down drastically for these vehicles.

The vehicles that are benefitting from this decision are Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara & Invicto, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder & Innova HyCross and Honda City e:HEV. It is still unclear whether this waiver will be applicable on luxury hybrids like the Camry, Vellfire and Lexus models but a Toyota dealer was seen advertising price cuts on the Camry.

Prices of Maruti Suzuki hybrids have come down by Rs. 2.88 Lakh while for Toyota hybrids the price cuts range from Rs. 2.04-3.11 Lakh. For the Honda City, the price cut is a little over Rs. 2 Lakh too. These are very significant savings and make hybrid cars more accessible now.

We spoke to Honda and they welcomed this decision by the UP Government. Kunal Behl, VP, Marketing & Sales, Honda Car India, stated that this decision will help attract a higher number of customers to join India’s green mobility vision by opting for hybrid cars in a more affordable manner.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited’s stock price also surged by more than 5% following this news.
