Husqvarna Motorcycles is coming to India as soon as next month. The BMW Motorrad owned motorcycle maker will be sold through three outlets which are located in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. The company does not intent to expand dealership networks and is bringing in all the motorcycles through the CBU route. Husqvarna has a rich history and was established in 1903 in Husqvarna, Sweden. It started off producing bicycles and later started making motorcycles. In 1987 Husqvarna became a part of the MV Agusta group and thus its headquarters and manufacturing was shifted to Varese, Italy.
In 2007, BMW purchased Husqvarna and has since then operated it as a separate entity. The German automaker has kept Husqvarna the way it was before the acquisition and the motorcycles continue to be produced in Italy. BMW wants to keep Husqvarna as the 2-wheel version of what MINI is to BMW cars. Today Husqvarna makes a range of motorcycles for Off-road, Supermoto and Street use. The company will be bringing in the street motorcycle Husqvarna Nuda 900R as its first offering for India. The other bikes are not being considered as they are less than 800cc in capacity and will require homologation.
The Husqvarna Nuda 900R is powered by a 900cc which is sourced from the BMW F800R parallel twin motor. The capacity has been increased to 900cc and Husqvarna has tuned to the engine for their requirement. The Nuda 900R produces 105 PS of power and 100 Nm of torque. It features a fully adjustable 48mm Sachs forks at the front and Ohlins rear shock. Braking duties have been taken care by Brembo monobloc 320mm discs. The bike also uses carbon fiber and weighs just 175 kgs, which gives it insane power to weight ratio. Expect the Husqvarna Nuda 900R to be priced around Rs. 14 lakhs.
