Huawei has commenced the sale of Seres SF5 extended range crossover in China today. The car will be available in across the brand’s flagship stores in the nation.
Let us get the headline figures out of the way first. The Seres SF5 comes with electric drive supplemented by a range extension system which is a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder motor generator that feeds the battery pack.
Two electric motors with a combined output of 543 HP (405 kW) and 820 Nm of torque provide the drive. Thus, the car can accelerate from 0-100 km/hr in 4.68 seconds.
It has 180 km range in electric mode and a total range of over 1000 km in extended range mode when calculated using the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) method.
Built on an aluminium chassis, the Huawei Seres SF5 measures 4700 mm long, 1930 mm wide, 1625 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2875 mm. It even has double wishbone suspension upfront and multi-link rear suspension.
To look at, the Huawei Seres Sf5 is not stunning. But, it does have some nice elements like the Ferrari Roma-esque grille, a smooth body with lots of curves, small greenhouse area, sleek lighting units and large wheels.
Inside, there is a 2 spoke steering wheel, a relatively subdued dashboard design housing a digital instrument cluster and a large portrait-style central touchscreen.
There is a rotary shifter just before the central armrest, while centre console is notable by its absence. However, in its place a storage space is present. Also, the car comes with wood interior trim, metallic accents, a sunroof, ambient lighting and massaging seats.
Exterior colour options that the Seres SF5 comes with are Charcoal Black, Deep Ocean Blue, Pearl White and Titanium Silver Grey. There are interior upholstery colour choices too and they are Garnet Red, Ivory White and Midnight Black.
Of course, the SF5 is packed with tech. The infotainment system connects with smartphones and enables seamless transfer of music and navigation information between the 2. Then there is voice recognition tech, connectivity with smart home devices through Huawei’s HiCar system.
That is not all, the Huawei Seres SF5 features vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) recharge mode and it can also supply power to electrical appliances, while the audio system comes with 11 speakers as well as 2 subwoofers.
Drivers also get plenty of assistance with the L2+ level automatic assisted driving features including traffic congestion assistance, adaptive cruise control, among several others.
Currently on display at Auto Shanghai 2021, the Seres SF5 will be handed to early customers from May. It costs ¥216,800 (Rs. 25.2 lakhs) for the 2-wheel drive model and ¥246,800 (Rs. 28.7 lakhs) for the 4-wheel drive version.
