While rumours that a Honda V4 superbike is in works have emerged in the past, the latest addition to the rumours is that it might land in 2021.
With V4 superbikes like the Aprilia RSV4 1100 and the Ducati Panigale V4 leading the charge in the superbike class, it’s no surprise that the Japanese are trying to bridge the gap with future V4 offerings.
Honda already has a V4 offering, though. It is a MotoGP replica, namely- The RC213V-S, which gives you a taste of the ultimate on-track handling and dynamics of their MotoGP bike which Marq Marquez rides. But, even in its full track trim, the RC213V-S makes less power than the current gen Fireblade.
With this in mind, if a Honda V4 superbike was to arrive in 2021, it’s likely that the RC213V-S will be put to bed and it makes sense, after all, the RC213V-S costs around Rs. 1.76 crores in its full track trim!
Further, if Honda goes through and launches a V4 offering, they’re likely to go absolutely bonkers on the thing, attempting to decimate everything in sight – the Europeans included.
Lastly, it will be interesting to see what Honda plans to do with their existing and very successful CBR lineup if a new Honda superbike was to arrive. They do need to come up with a new name, though, as they seem to be running out of Rs with the new top-of-the-line CBR1000RR-R.
