Honda has just unveiled the next generation Civic Type R concept at the on-going Geneva Motor Show which is bound to enter the production phase by 2015. The Civic is available globally with the hatchback and sedan styling but the Indian market hasn’t witnessed the Civic in its hatchback guise. The Honda Civic was one of the best sold D-segment sedans in the Indian market during its hey-days and had featured a classy exterior design as well as a futuristic dash layout similar to a cockpit.
The Civic was a mod-friendly car and several modifying kits were available in the market. Honda has discontinued the Civic from the Indian market last year citing diminishing sales as the reason due to the lack of an oil-burner under its hood. The Japanese automaker currently doesn’t have any plans to re-launch the Civic sedan or the hot-hatch either in the Indian market. The Civic Type R concept features a sporty exterior design while the details about the interiors were not revealed by the company.
The Honda Civic Type R will enter production next year and will be launched in the European market first, followed by other select markets. The Civic Type R hot-hatch features an aerodynamic styling which improves the dynamics of the vehicle. This vehicle is powered by Honda’s well-acclaimed 2.0-litre turbocharged in-line four-cylinder VTEC engine which is expected to churn out a maximum power of 280 HP.
