Honda has unveiled the Mobilio Prestige edition in Indonesia at an event held in Jakarta. The Mobilio is an MPV which is based on the Brio platform and competes with the Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy, etc. Honda unveiled the Mobilio in Indonesia earlier this year and it is going to be launched in India by mid-2014. Honda will start sales of the MPV in Indonesia next year. The Mobilio has been well received by the customers as the MPV segment is seeing a boom in Indonesia. The company has received 5000 bookings already, majority of which are for the base E trim.
The Honda Mobilio Prestige is the top end variant which will be available on the MPV and it is the most luxurious variant in the entire Mobilio range. The Mobilio comes with safety features such as dual airbags and seat belts with pre-tensioners and load limiters. The body frame is built using G-CON technology. The Mobilio Prestige comes with all the features that are present in lower variants of the car and doesn’t get any mechanical changes.
The Prestige variant features chrome mouldings on the doors and houses a chrome strip above the rear number plate on the boot lid. It also has the option of fog lamps and has a chrome exhaust tip. The Prestige variant features more elegant wheel design with 12-spoke alloys. The interior is now loaded with a double-din touch screen head unit which converts as a display for the rear view camera when reverse gear is engaged. With the addition of these features, the Prestige variant is priced at Rp 190 million (Rs. 10.44 lakhs).
In Indonesia, the Honda Mobilio is powered by a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine which produces 118 PS of power and 144 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and there is a CVT unit on offer as well. The Prestige variant gets a CVT automatic as standard. For India, Honda will also use the 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine which powers the Amaze.
