Honda is rumoured to be planning to launch the 2022 HR-V in India later this year and the compact SUV will come to our shores in the form a hybrid.
This will be second hybrid model launch from the carmaker in India in 2021, for, as reported earlier, the firm is expected to put the City Hybrid on sale here by the middle of the year.
Revealed this past month, the new Honda HR-V comes with the carmaker’s latest design language that makes it look more simple, yet classy. As can be seen from the image above, it features sleek headlights with a plain radiator grille that features several horizontal slats.
The car also has a body cladding in the lower portion, full-width LED light bar at the rear along with a roof spoiler, and an overall rounded profile.
Inside, the new HR-V will feature a new dashboard layout, a 9-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, a multi-function steering wheel and part-leather upholstery and several latest features.
Powering the car will be a 1.5-litre petrol engine that will be paired with a 2-motor hybrid system. While the compact SUV will be offered with 4-wheel-drive in overseas markets, it is likely that, for the Indian market, Honda will keep the car front-wheel-drive only.
When the 2022 Honda HR-V India launch takes place after the festive season this year, it will be priced at a premium when compared with other compact SUVs due to it being a hybrid.
However, if Honda wants to make a dent in the sales of the Creta from Hyundai and its twin from Kia Motors, it should consider bringing to India the non-hybrid version of the HR-V as well.
