Honda has gone into top gear for India with new launches every few months. Honda India will launch, the all new CB150R street bike in March 2013. The Honda CB150R is the naked version of the fully-faired CBR150R sports bike which the Japanese company launched last year. Honda recently launched its three scooters, Activa, Dio and Aviator with new better engines with updated technology. Now with this new motorcycle, Honda seems to be keeping its promise of launching a new product every quarter of the year.
The Honda CB150R is based on the concept of the high end naked sports bike, the CB1000R, and is also a street fighter. It is powered by the same engine as the CBR150R sports bike albeit with a different tuning. The 150cc 4-stroke liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine produces a peak power of 16.8 BHP at 10,000 RPM and 13.1 Nm of torque at 8000 RPM. The CB150R is down by about 0.8 BHP as compared to its fully-faired sibling and weighs 129 kgs. The frame as well as the front and monoshock rear suspension are carried over from the CBR150R. The CB150R is a naked bike, so the sitting position is more upright and ergonomics are more comfort oriented.
In India the entry level sporty 150cc bike category has always been the hottest selling segment. In spite of many manufacturers having great products in the category, the new Honda CB150R should give a good fight to its competition. We can expect this motorcycle to be very refined, great to ride in city commutes as well as deliver good performance when in the mood of fun and games on the open road. Like other Honda bikes, we can expect the CB150R to do well in India hoping that the company will price it competitively unlike its overpriced sibling.
