MPVs have a great demand in India as well as many other countries throughout the globe. In India, the Toyota Innova has been the king of this segment for a very long time now and even after many price hikes by Toyota, the vehicle continues to reign the MPV market. The Innova has got many competitors like Tata Aria and Nissan Evalia but none of these can match the Innova’s sales as well as reputation of reliability. Talking about reliability, another Japanese manufacturer comes to our mind and that is none other than Honda. Honda is going to showcase its new concept MPV XS-1 at the 2014 Auto Expo.
The XS-1 concept is still in the basic development stage and there is some time before it actually rolls out in the market. The XS-1 will feature some of the latest technologies. It will also be another testament to Honda’s clever packaging skills. Honda designers are known to extract the maximum possible space from their vehicles’ interiors and we have already seen this in vehicles like the Jazz. The XS-1 will also feature exteriors and interiors that will give a sporty and futuristic feel.
The Honda XS-1 is a 7-seater MPV and it will surely give some tough competition to the Toyota Innova. Besides the XS-1 concept, the Japanese automaker will showcase the 2014 Jazz, Mobilio, Brio, Amaze, City, CR-V and Accord hybrid at the Auto Expo. Honda has a lot of fans in India and going by the demand that the new 2014 City is getting, we are pretty sure that the XS-1 MPV will be successful too. However the launch won’t happen before 2017, a time when Maruti Suzuki will also bring its 7-seater MPV to the market. The XS-1 is being developed for emerging markets like India as the Odyssey is turning out to be too expensive.
