The Honda Scoopy patent application was filed in March last year!
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has received the patent for its Scoopy, a stylish 110cc scooter that is currently on sale in overseas markets.
The Scoopy is heavily inspired by the past and has retro styling throughout. Up front, there is a LED headlight flanked by indicators and a sizeable fender, while along the sides, it has smooth and flowing body panels, and a single-piece step up seat.
At the back, there is a chunky pillion passenger grab handle, oval-shaped tail light, the same large blinkers as in the front and a simple mudguard. It rides on 12-inch alloy wheels.
The scooter comes with a semi-digital instrument cluster, a 15.4-litre under-seat storage box, and many features including keyless go and a USB charging socket, among others.
In Indonesia, where the Scoopy is already on sale, it comes powered by a 110cc engine, the same as the Activa, that makes 8.85 BHP and 9.3 Nm of torque. For reference, the Activa has 7.7 BHP and 8.84 torques.
Honda already rules the roost in the scooter segment with its Activa. But, it won’t do the firm much harm in trying to extend is dominance in the very popular segment in the country. Let us keep our fingers crossed.
