Honda Still Searching For Royal Enfield Rival

2017 Honda Rebel Tank

Honda wants to grab a pie of Royal Enfield’s cruiser market share.

India’s second largest two-wheeler maker is searching for a Royal Enfield rival

Honda has been vocal about its ambitions to make a product that will rival Royal Enfield’s cruiser range. The company has been impressed by the sales of Royal Enfield products in our country. At present, there is no direct competitor to Royal Enfield motorcycles.

According to a senior officer from Honda, the niche segment is controlled by Royal Enfield and it is yet to have a challenger brand. Royal Enfield has sold around 44,000 units of the Classic 350 in the month of September. This will be the biggest challenge for the second largest two-wheeler maker.

Honda has been undertaking customer surveys and product development at their level but they don’t have anything particular to reveal. The company does not have a product in its global lineup that can be a strong challenger for Royal Enfield’s range of motorcycles although they do have the Rebel which will be an apt fit.

The Honda CB1100 is a modern day cruiser with 1970s styling, it is powered by a 1140cc air-cooled inline four-cylinder engine. The company had launched the CB1100 RS model in 2017. This model gets all LED lights and a slightly revised engine. A smaller capacity version of the CB1100 could be a great option for Honda to take on Royal Enfield.
