Honda Recalls 90,000 Diesel Cars In India To Replace Fuel Return Pipe

Honda City Long Term Report

A voluntary recall is being issued for the Honda City and Mobilio diesel variants to replace a faulty fuel return pipe that may cause fuel leakage.

Units of the Mobilio produced from June 2014 to June 2015 have been affected

Japanese automaker Honda has stated that they will be recalling approximately 90,000 diesel cars in India to replace a faulty fuel return pipe. 64,428 units of the Honda City and 25,782 units of the Mobilio have been affected by this issue and there is a possibility of the fuel return pipe coming out and thus leading to fuel leakage and stoppage of the engine.

The affected City models are the ones manufactured from December 2013 to July 2015 (the fourth generation City from the start of production) while the affected Mobilio units are from June 2014 to June 2015 batches. Honda has said that this is a voluntary recall. The fuel return pipe and its related components will be replaced free of cost by the automaker. All dealerships across India will start this replacement procedure from 19th December and Honda will contact owners of the vehicles individually.

Customers can also check whether their cars are affected by the recall or not by clicking on this LINK and entering their 17-digit VIN number. This is the fourth recall that Honda is undertaking in India in 2015. Earlier this year, the company recalled several units of the CR-V, Civic, City, Jazz and Accord for an issue related to the airbags while later on the company recalled the City CVT too for a software upgrade.

It is good when companies understand issues with their vehicles and recall them voluntarily rather than waiting for individual complaints to arise and then carry out repairs on an individual basis. The Honda City is a hot-selling C-segment sedan which is widely preferred by buyers for the reliability that it offers. The Mobilio turned out to be a bit of a dud seller for the company due to a lot of fierce competition.

The City was earlier recalled too for an issue with the CVT software
