Honda currently offers Rebel cruiser motorcycle with a 500cc engine. The Japanese bike maker is preparing to compete with Harley-Davidson and Indian Motorcycles with a bigger capacity Rebel.

The Honda Rebel 1100 will share its engine from the Honda Africa Twin 1100. It is a 1084cc, parallel-twin engine that produces 102 HP at 7500 RPM and 105 Nm of torque at 6250 RPM. Honda will retune the engine for the Rebel.

Considering the character of cruiser motorcycles, the Rebel 1100 will be tuned to offer stronger mid-range and healthy torque. It might also get an option of DCT auto transmission since it is using Africa Twin mechanicals.

In terms of electronics, the Rebel 1100 is expected to come with cornering ABS, lean sensitive traction control and Honda’s ‘comfort’ electronics.

Honda will develop a new chassis for the bigger capacity Rebel for an upright stance. The bike is expected to be revealed at the EICMA show this year, if it is not cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
