Honda Motorcycles plans to expand its portfolio with the launch of higher capacity machines in India. The company which sells liter class bikes in the country is now planning to launch motorcycles in the range of 500-1000cc to attract customers across the range. The Japanese automaker has not disclosed which motorcycle they plan to launch, nor have they disclosed the time frame for these launches. A 600cc Honda superbike is just what is needed to unset Kawasaki and Hyosung, but knowing Honda, the waiting period will be so long that the Yamaha would be able to launch the R6 before Honda could blink. The company also plans to rework on its corporate identity and plans to do so through its dealer network.
“We will do a lot of activities on corporate identity and branding. The changes will be more visible across the dealer network. We have vehicles from 50 cc to 1,800 cc. However, 50 cc is not preferred here. We will look to launch 500 cc, 1,000 cc and above engine displacement two wheelers in the Indian markets,” Makato Yoshii, operating head (south and west), Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, said.
