Honda PCX electric scooter has made another appearance in India at this year’s Auto Expo.
Held at Greater Noida, Auto Expo is the largest auto show in Asia and witnesses a lot of crowd from visitors and exhibitors alike. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has been regular at the event and has an interesting lineup for this year as well. Honda PCX electric scooter and Marc Marquez’s MotoGP winning bike is also on display alongside the Japanese brand’s existing lineup.
The PCX electric scooter made its debut at the 2014 Auto Expo and was also showcased last year at the Tokyo Motor Show. With outer dimensions of 1923 mm x 745 mm x 1107 mm (length x width x height), the scooter is being marketed as a cost-effective urban commute. It gets an electric motor fed by a detachable li-ion battery pack developed by Honda autonomously. The battery pack can be charged inside the scooter and separately as well.
The PCX is also available with a hybrid variant which gets a high-capacity battery and a 150cc, single-cylinder motor putting out around 11 HP of power and 14 Nm of torque. The showcased electric variant comes with alloy wheels and disc brake at the front. Prominent design elements include a dual beam headlight setup, LED tail lamp, huge front windscreen and digital instrument cluster.
The suspension setup comprises of telescopic forks at the front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. Honda hasn’t given any India launch timeline for the PCX but it is expected to go on sale in Asian and Japanese markets this year itself. If launched in India, the PCX electric scooter will sit above the Grazia 125 in terms of positioning.
