The Honda Activa 125 has been a long time coming, even before the Japanese automaker announced the launch, speculations were rife about its impeding arrival. Honda did not surprise anyone at the 2014 Auto Expo as the Activa 125 was very much expected. After a few weeks since the first unveil of this 125cc scooter, Honda dealers commenced bookings for the Activa 125, citing a waiting period of 6 months even before launch. Soon Honda unofficially launched the scooter, putting up the prices of the 125cc Activa on its website and today the company has officially launched it at an event in Mumbai.
We already know everything about the Honda Activa 125, it’s powered by a 124.9cc engine which belts out 8.6 BHP of power and 10.12 Nm of torque. This scooter is vastly better than its younger sibling, not only does it get CBS as standard, the Deluxe variant also gets 190 mm front disc brake and alloy wheels. Honda has finally given the Activa telescopic front forks. Like all other Honda scooters, the Activa 125 also gets Honda Eco Technology (HET) which the company claims boosts fuel efficiency. The Activa 125 has an I-CAT certified mileage of 59 km/l and is available in 4 colours – blue, silver, black and white.
The Honda Activa 125 is available in two variants. The base STD variant is priced at Rs. 56,607/- while the DLX variant is priced at Rs. 62,588/- (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The on-road prices for the Standard and Deluxe variants are Rs. 62,276/- and Rs. 68,742/- respectively. Competition for the Honda Activa 125 is from its Japanese peer, Suzuki, who offers two scooters in this segment, the Access and Swish. India’s largest 2-wheeler manufacturer plans to enter this powerful scooter segment with the Hero Dare 125 later this year which will give tough competition to India’s second best selling 2-wheeler, the Activa. Honda aims to sell 46 lakh units this year and is targeting a total of 3800 outlets by 2015.
