Contrary to expectations, Honda went ahead and brought the Mobilio RS version along with the standard model to India. The Mobilio RS is available only with a diesel engine, while deliveries have been scheduled to commence from September this year. The deliveries of regular versions on the other hand have already commenced at dealerships. Priced at Rs. 10.86 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi), the RS package adds a host of new exterior add-ons and equipment giving the MPV a sportier look.
On the outside, the Honda Mobilio RS gets a new twin-slat chrome grille replacing the single unit, while the headlight cluster features HID projectors and integrated LED daytime running lights. The bumper receives changes for an aggressive look and also gets chrome inserts. On the sides, the RS version features chrome door handles, retractable ORVM with integrated turn indicators as well as new chrome-finished 15-inch alloy wheels. Completing the look at the rear is tailgate spoiler coupled chrome inserts on the bumper and exhaust.
On the inside, the Mobilio RS is the same as the regular Mobilio although with accessories one can differentiate the cabin from the regular models. Stuff like faux wood garnish running across the instrument cluster, centre console and door trims; faux leather upholstery, illuminated door sills with Mobilio badging and a 6.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system are offered at the dealer level. You can also opt for a reverse parking camera. Honda intended to offer the interior package on the Mobilio but the company dropped the idea at the last moment as it seemed out of place and too pricey.
Mechanically, the Mobilio RS remains the same and is powered by the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine producing 100 PS and 200 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. The MPV claims an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 24.2 km/l. While certain interior add-ons are available at dealer level, the RS package will be factory fitted from Honda with the exterior and interior upgrades. Honda states that the Mobilio garnered 5800 bookings before the official launch.
