Honda reduced the prices of the City by upto Rs. 66,000/- last month but that is not all as dealers are offering upto Rs. 50,000/- discount on top of the price cut. This makes buying a Honda City even sweeter. The said offer has been undertaken as sales of cars have decreased for the first time in two years. Companies want to push cars and hence are luring buyers with attractive schemes. Its just not Honda who has been bitten with the discount bug, even companies like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai are aggressively offering discounts on some of their cars.
The reason for Honda’s discount is quite obvious. The City has been selling without any upgrade since two years now and the latest launches from Volkswagen, Hyundai and Ford have affected its market dominance severely. The move could also be to clear inventory as Honda plans to launch a revised version of the City in October, 2011. Increase in interest rates have reduced sales of cars last month and companies are trying to compensate the increase by offering incentives to buyers.
