Honda Launches 2014 City Priced From Rs. 7.42 Lakhs [Live]

Honda has launched the fourth generation City in India, offered for the first time with a diesel engine. The Japanese automaker is so serious about the diesel model that the company will start deliveries of the diesel Honda City immediately. The petrol City will only be delivered from mid-February. Honda commenced bookings of the new City more than a month back, at the time when it globally unveiled the car in New Delhi on 25th November. The automaker has received 9000 pre-launch bookings for the City which is quite something.

Everything about the 2014 Honda City is already known, including engine output, ARAI mileage, variant wise features, etc. The price was the only unknown factor but that has been announced today. The new Honda City is powered by the same 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine which now outputs 119 PS of power (1 PS increase over its predecessor) and 145 Nm of torque, coupled to both 5-speed manual and 7-step CVT automatic transmissions. The ARAI certified mileage for the petrol manual is 17.8 km/l for the E variant (all other variants the ARAI figure is 17.4 km/l) while for the petrol CVT it’s 18 km/l. The diesel City uses the Amaze’s powerplant which is the 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine belting out 100 PS and 200 Nm, coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. ARAI certified mileage for the diesel City is 26 km/l (25.3 km/l for the VX variant).

The Honda City is offered in 12 variants (5 each of petrol manual and diesel along with 2 variants of CVT which are SV and VX) which include E, S, SV, V and VX trims. All variants come with a driver side airbag, electrically adjustable rear view mirrors, ABS and EBD as standard. The S variants get an integrated audio system with a 3.5-inch screen, steering mounted audio controls, driver seat height adjuster, keyless entry, hands free telephone, rear defogger, body coloured rear view mirrors and door handles. The mid SV variant gets auto AC with touch screen control, rear AC vents, cruise control, passenger airbag and steering mounted telephone controls. This variant seems like the best bet although the V adds 15-inch alloy wheels, 5-inch screen with rear parking camera, front fog lamps and electrically folding rearview mirrors with turn indicators. The top end VX variants gets leather seats, sunroof, keyless boot opening, button start/stop and smart key system.
