Honda could be mulling to add an entry-level scooter to its lineup that will be rivalling the TVS Scooty Zest as it appears from this exclusive image of a low-cost scooter.
We really don’t need to say much to establish the relationship between Honda India and automatic scooters. With the Activa been given a cult status in the Indian market, the company’s strong lineup of scooters falls short when it comes to offering a 100cc scooter. With no presence as yet, it now seems that the Japanese manufacturer is developing a 100cc entry-level automatic scooter that will rival the TVS Scooty in the segment as per this image which we got hold off.
This image though is very similar to the Honda SCR100 scooter that is sold in China and Korea. The SCR100 is one of the automaker’s entry-level offerings and is popular among mainland consumers of several coastal cities in the People’s Republic. The scooter comes with a fairly simple design with flat body panels, handle-mounted turn indicators and a single-piece headlight cluster while the instrument cluster is extremely old school and the same appears for the switchgear as well. The rear features a three-piece tail light unit and is reminiscent of the previous generation Activa.
In terms of power, the Honda SCR100 comes with a 100cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that makes around 7.1 PS of power and 8 Nm of torque. The scooter comes with telescopic front forks while there are front and rear disc brakes available as optional. Measuring similar to the TVS Scooty in terms of dimensions, Honda could tweak the SCR100 for the Indian market and could share several parts with its existing offerings. The automaker had also imported the scooter in September last year, hinting that there is indeed something going on behind closed doors.
