Honda Jazz EV Spotted Testing Without Camouflage

The Honda Jazz EV is expected to be launched in China in 2020.

The Honda Jazz EV will have a driving range of 300 kms

The Indian automobile market seems to be well on course for the electrification drive. More number of automakers are now focusing on bringing new electric cars or at least electrifying the current lineup. One of the latest to join the league is Honda and we now have a new electric version of the Honda Jazz spotted on Indian roads, sans any camouflage.

The spotted Honda Jazz EV looks identical to the first generation model that was launched in 2012 in its home country and in the US. One can assume that this particular test mule is an electric vehicle as there was no front grille. However, no such EV badging could be found.

The Honda Jazz EV is expected to have a driving range of around 300 kms on a single charge. Moreover, it could be using the same GS Yuasa and Panasonic batteries that power the company’s electric vehicle fleet. And since the EV is reportedly China-bound, the company has tied up with Amperex Technology, a Chinese firm. This has been done as the Chinese Government has incentives for cars that use localised batteries.

The electric Honda Jazz is expected to be priced around Rs. 16 lakhs in the Chinese market. The company has even announced that this electric version of the hatchback would be launched in 2020 and an India launch cannot be ruled out.
