Honda issues recall for Gold Wing GL1800 and CBR1000RR Fireblade
Honda has issued a recall for two of its flagship models, the Gold Wing GL1800 tourer and the CBR1000RR Fireblade. The recall stems from a potential fuel pump issue which could lead to the bikes stalling while in operation.
The affected motorcycles, the Gold Wing GL1800 and the CBR1000RR Fireblade, have been reported to suffer from fuel pump problems due to improperly moulded impellers. This defect could cause the fuel pump to malfunction, resulting in the bike stalling unexpectedly during use.
Acknowledging the concern, Honda has taken proactive steps by announcing a recall for these models. The company has assured owners that inspection and replacement of the faulty parts will be carried out free of charge, regardless of the warranty status of the motorcycle.
To facilitate the recall process, Honda BigWing dealers will notify affected parties as soon as replacement parts become available. Additionally, owners can proactively check if their motorcycles are affected by entering the VIN number on the Honda BigWing India website.
According to information provided by Honda India, rectifying the issue is expected to take approximately one hour. Owners are encouraged to promptly address the recall to ensure the safety and performance of their motorcycles.
The affected units include Gold Wing GL1800 models manufactured between December 2017 and December 2023, and CBR1000RR Fireblade models manufactured between September 2017 and April 2020. While the Gold Wing GL1800 is available in a single variant in India, the CBR1000RR Fireblade was offered in two variants – standard and SP.
