Design
Honda has been quite neutral yet modern when it comes to their latest design language. Their cars usually appeal to a wide range of audience regardless of their age.
Similar case is expected with the Honda Elevate’s design. The compact SUV seems to have a straightforward design with simple lines and no extraordinary curves and creases. The teaser images suggest that it’ll get inspired by the new HR-V which is being sold in the global market.
The front profile is likely to get a large grille accompanied by sleek headlight setup. You can expect a large chrome panel above the grille which is their current signature design touch. The bonnet and the fenders have some muscle if you look at the teaser image.
There will be no panoramic sunroof, a big disappointment for many. The rear profile seems to have a large tail light setup with a red connecting line, similar to some Honda SUVs seen globally.
Interior
The Honda Elevate will be based on the modified platform of the Amaze. We hope not but we can expect some interior elements borrowed from its siblings including the switchgear. However, we expect the dashboard to come with an all-new design. The steering wheel is expected to be different as well.
We can expect the usual beige and black colour scheme inside or all-black option for those who like a sporty interior. Honda is known for offering good cabin and boot space in their cars with their man maximum machine minimum design ethos. Expect the same with the Elevate having enough headroom, legroom and boot space to give a tough fight to the competition.
Features
Honda should offer a new large touchscreen infotainment system for the Elevate with a new interface having more features and smooth touch response. Compared to the rivals, Honda’s infotainment system usually feels lacklustre when it comes to the design and UI. We hope they offer some premium range of speakers too with the new SUV.
Some of the expected features include sunroof, ADAS, 6 airbags, 360 degree camera, auto headlights, rain sensing wipers, ventilated front seats, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, etc.
Engine
Honda recently went all-petrol after refreshing their lineup. The pre-facelift Honda City came with a diesel engine option. They discontinued the oil burner ahead of the BS6.2 norms. So we don’t expect a diesel engine option with the Elevate at all.
The Japanese carmaker is likely to offer the same engine options as the City. 1.5-litre i-VTEC naturally aspirated petrol motor and the 1.5-litre strong hybrid powertrain are likely to be offered.
The 1.5-litre NA petrol engine produces 121 HP and 145 Nm torque in the City and the same figures are expected to be offered with the Elevate. It will come with 6-speed manual and CVT automatic transmission options.
Price
Honda Elevate will compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, MG Astor and the list goes on! We expect Honda Elevate to come with a price range of Rs. 13-22 lakhs (ex-showroom) including both petrol and hybrid models.
