There is a hint of HR-V in the front profile

Honda Elevate revealed for India, price announcement during the festive season

Honda Elevate revealed, bookings to open in July while the launch is scheduled for this festive season. The new SUV from Honda is longer and taller than Hyundai Creta.

Design

The Elevate takes inspiration from the international model of the Honda HR-V. It comes with sleek LED headlights with integrated DRLs. There is a huge grille with shiny chrome detailing on the nose. The bumper gets fog lamps and the lower part has faux skid plate.

On the side profile you will notice new 17-inch dual tone alloy wheels. It comes with body cladding around the lower half of the car. The ORVMs are mounted on the doors and not on the A-pillar of the vehicle.

The rear profile looks quite different from the HR-V. It has LED tail lamps that look inspired by the new WR-V that is sold in the international market.

Dimensions

In terms of dimensions the Honda Elevate measures 4312 mm in length, 1790 mm in width and 1650 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2650 mm and a ground clearance of 220 mm. The Elevate has a turning radius of 5.2 metres.

Interior

Honda Elevate’s interior is finished in black and brown colour tones which looks quite premium. The dashboard looks inspired by luxury SUVs as it gives a hint of the Mercedes GLS with the wooden treatment on the layered dashboard.

There is a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system which looks quite big in size. There is a familiar City borrowed 3-spoke steering wheel. Behind that wheel is a 7-inch all digital instrument cluster.

With Honda’s Man Maximum Machine Minimum engineering, the space inside the cabin looks generous and there is enough room for 5 adults. More on this later when we drive the vehicle. The Elevate has a boot space of 458 litres.

Features

The infotainment system of the Honda Elevate comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It also has Weblink, Bluetooth and USB connectivity. The display offers features like Assistant Side View Monitor, Assistant Rear View Monitor, Clock, Calendar, Compass, Customisable Pictures, etc.

Other features include sunroof with one-touch operation and pinch guard, wireless phone charger, walk away auto locking, rear AC vents, etc.

Safety

In terms of safety, the Honda Elevate gets 6 airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Assist with Agile Handling Assist, Hill Start Assist, Honda Lane Watch camera, Multi angle Rear Camera, ISOFIX, Immobilizer with anti-theft alarm, etc.

With Honda Sensing, the Elevate comes with ADAS tech that gets Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Adaptive Cruise Control, Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Lead Car Departure Notification system and Auto High-Beam.

Engine

The Honda Elevate is powered by the same naturally aspirated petrol engine powering the City. It is a 1.5-litre i-VTEC DOHC engine that produces 121 PS and 145 Nm of torque. This will be available with 6-speed manual transmission and 7-step CVT automatic transmission.

Honda will introduce the NA petrol engine at the time of launch and is expected to launch strong hybrid variant too eventually.

The Japanese automaker has announced that they will launch a fully electric version of the Elevate in India within the next three years.

Price

While the pricing will be announced at the time of the launch this festive season, we expect it to be around Rs. 13-18 lakhs (ex-showroom). It will compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, MG Astor, etc.
