The Japanese 2 wheeler manufacturer, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India Limited (HMSI) was one stall worth visiting at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. Honda surprised the crowd with its product portfolio and some new models that will be launched in a few months time. The CBR150R was a real surprise considering the fact that there weren’t any strong rumours of this bike coming to India so soon. Among the others models, one which caught a lot of attention of the on-lookers was the new commuter bike from Honda, named the Dream Yuga. First off, the bike is not something that can boast of killer looks like its sibling, the CB Twister. The Honda Dream Yuga, to be frank seems to be heavily inspired from the design of the Honda CB Shine. Looks aside, the bike is powered by a 110cc engine that produces 9 PS of power at 7500 RPM and claims to deliver a class leading fuel efficiency of 72 kmpl.
The bike rides on optional tubeless tires and is touted to be most maintenance free bike in the commuter category. The bike has a long, comfortable seat hinting at good riding comfort over long distances. Underneath, it gets a tough frame to bear the brunt of the Indian roads and also boasts of stylish alloy wheels. Coupled with the Honda reliability, this bike is sure going to be a worthy competitor to the currently popular Hero Splendors that make up for most of the sales in this segment. With products like the Dream Yuga, Honda seems is clearly planning on challenging its ex-partner, Hero MotoCorp to become the largest motorcycle maker of India. The Dream Yuga is expected to be priced about Rs. 46,000 and will be going into production by May 2012.
