Honda Discontinues Civic & CR-V Models In India
After ceasing production at its Noida factory, the carmaker has only moved production of the City sedan to its Tapukara plant.
Honda Cars India has discontinued the Civic premium sedan and the CR-V SUV from its product lineup.
The automaker had only recently ceased production-related operations at its Greater Noida facility, where its City, Civic and CR-V models were produced.
While it was thought that the firm will move production of all of its cars made or assembled at the Noida plant to its larger Tapukara factory in Rajasthan, owing to certain issues only the production of the City sedan has been moved.
Since the Tapukara facility can only manufacture vehicles of a certain size, the Japanese firm’s flagship sedan and SUV for India have been axed. The City will be produced at the firm’s Rajasthan factory alongside the Amaze, Jazz and the WR-V.
Despite reducing the number of products it offers in the country and despite declining sales over the years, which was not helped in the least by COVID-19 this year, Honda still wants to stay in India.
The company is planning to continue its long-term presence in the market and although the last few months have been harsh, the pandemic has not changed any of its future product or investment plans.
