Honda Crider Concept Breaks Cover In Shanghai

Honda has come up with a global premiere of the production-ready Crider concept at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show. The Crider sedan is intended to be positioned between the Honda Accord and Civic for the Chinese market.  According to the Japanese automaker, the Crider name is derived from a combination of words ‘Criteria’ and ‘Dreams’. The Crider sedan is developed mainly for the Chinese market, which will go on sale by end-June this year. We also expect Honda to introduce the Crider in other Asian countries including India in the near future.

In terms of styling, the Honda Crider concept looks aggressive with sharp lines running across the well proportioned body. The headlamps get blue LED treatment that merges well with the chrome tipped fat grille. At the rear, the Crider gets large tail lamp cluster with a chrome strip running in between to give it a wide stance. The Honda Crider shares the underpinnings of the Civic sedan equipped with a 1.8-litre VTEC petrol engine that can produce a power output of around 140 HP, coupled to options of a 5-speed manual and automatic transmissions.

The Honda Crider concept is a toned down version of the Honda Concept C, which surfaced the web recently. The Honda Crider production version is likely to come out with the similar styling as the concept showcased at the Shanghai Motor Show and will retail with a starting price of 1,30,000 yuan (Rs. 11.38 lakhs) and top out at 1,70,000 yuan (Rs. 14.88 lakhs). The production of the Crider sedan will take place in China as part of the Guangzhou-Honda joint venture which is similar with the case of the new Honda Accord.
