The launch of India-specific Honda compact SUV is expected to happen in the first half of next year
Honda is gearing up to launch its own compact SUV to rival the Hyundai Creta in the first half (H1) of 2023. It will be based on the same platform as the current generation City.
The new SUV, will likely be offered with the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines, like the C-segment sedan on which it is said to be based. The compact SUV from Honda could also come with a hybrid powertrain.
If that happens to be the case, then Honda might make use of the City eHEV’s powertrain for its compact crossover. Bear in mind that Maruti Suzuki and Toyota are poised to launch compact SUVs with a hybrid powertrain later this year.
What’s more, it is a given that the crossover will come with the latest features such as a large infotainment touchscreen, connected car technology, electric sunroof, electrically operable and ventilated front seats, wireless device charging and more.
Like the City eHEV, the upcoming compact SUV from Honda could well feature advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), apart from a whole host of safety features.
Not many details of the car are known at the moment, but it is expected that upon launch, Honda compact SUV will come with a premium price tag which would put it in contention with some midsize SUVs.
