Honda Civic Diesel BS6 Launched, Priced From Rs. 20.75 Lakhs

There are no visual tweaks compared to the BS4 model

The much awaited Honda Civic diesel BS6 has finally arrived. It is priced from Rs. 20.75 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). There is a price increase of Rs. 20,000/- compared to the entry-level VX trim due to the additional airbags. However, the ZX trim price remains unchanged compared to the BS4 model.

The 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine in its BS6 guise produces the same 120 PS at 4000 RPM and 300 Nm of torque at 2000 RPM. It is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. There is no automatic transmission on offer.

While the power and torque figures remain unchanged, the fuel efficiency has gone down from 26.8 km/l to 23.9 km/l (claimed). 3 km/l difference is quite a lot with this transition.

The oil burner is available in two trims – VX and ZX. All the features remain unchanged. However, the VX grade now gets additional curtain airbags. Which means both the diesel trims now come with 6 airbags as standard.

The launch was delayed due to the disruption in production and supply chain amidst nationwide lockdown.

The petrol BS6 model is powered by a 1.8-litre motor producing 141 PS at 6500 RPM and 174 Nm at 4300 RPM. It is available only with a CVT automatic transmission.

Now that the Skoda Octavia and Toyota Corolla is discontinued, the Civic competes only with the Hyundai Elantra.
