Honda City To Get A Facelift In 2017, New Features To Be Added

2015 Honda City Long Term Review

Japanese automaker Honda is in the process of developing a facelifted version of the fourth generation City and the updated model will be launched in 2017

The Honda City has been leading the C-segment in India since a long time now

The Honda City is the largest selling C-segment car in India and why not? The vehicle has constantly strived to beat the competition by offering more than its rivals and of course Honda has also had an upper hand always with its snob value, resale and reliability. With rising competition, the Japanese automaker might be feeling the heat and hence the company is coming out with a minor but important facelift of the City in 2017.

The vehicle will continue to have the same styling but we can expect redesigned bumpers, new headlights with projectors and LED DRLs, new 16-inch wheels, tweaked interior colour themes and all-black interiors for the top variant. The 2017 Honda City will continue to come with the current list of features which includes a sunroof and a 6.2-inch touch-screen with an AVN system. Honda will also offer ABS, EBD and dual front airbags on all the variants and the top trims might also benefit from side and curtain airbags.

The mechanicals will remain largely unchanged though. The Honda City is powered by a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT gearbox. The vehicle also gets a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine that comes with a 6-speed manual transmission. The petrol engine produces 119 PS of power and 145 Nm of torque while the oil-burner belts out 100 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque. Honda might tweak the diesel engine to produce more fuel efficiency.

The current Honda City is priced between Rs. 7.60-11.91 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) and the new model might get slightly more pricier by Rs. 25,000-30,000/-. Honda always follows a timeline of updating the City after every 5 years. The current generation was launched in 2014 and since the next generation will be out only in 2019, it makes perfect sense for Honda to launch a mid-life facelift next year.

The City facelift will get a revised interior scheme and top variants will get all-black interiors
