Honda CB300R discontinued in India – this is one news that bike riders would not have wanted to hear, but it has happened.
With no BS6 model announced, the bike has been taken off of the automaker’s website.
Launched in February 2019 with a price tag of Rs. 2.41 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Honda CB300R had features like LED headlights, upside down front forks along with dual-channel ABS.
The bike was sold through the CKD route and was an instant success in India. Honda had stated by April that the CB300R was sold-out for 2019.
Over 550 units of the the Honda CB300R reached customers and bookings were on for the 2020 model year through Honda’s Wing World outlets.
Honda had also considered manufacturing the neo cafe racer in India due to the strong demand. The CB300R was expected to be updated to comply with BS6 regulations before being manufactured here.
We reckon Honda did not find it feasible to continue selling the bike, especially with automakers trying to cut production costs to deal with the financial crisis brought by the COVID-19 outbreak. However, it might re-launch soon if demand persists.
The neo cafe racer was powered by a 286cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produced 31.4 HP at 8500 RPM and 27.5 Nm of peak torque at 7500 RPM. It was paired to a 6-speed gearbox. It competed
