Honda has teased the new CB Hornet 200R in an official video, the motorcycle is confirmed for launch on 27th August 2020.
The short teaser video shows several features the bike will come with, notably LED headlight, USD forks upfront and they are painted in gold colour, lock mechanism housing integrated to the fuel tank and finally, the air-cooled engine.
We had reported recently that Honda is working on a 200cc motorcycle that will likely be called the CB Hornet 200R, since Honda did not update the CB Hornet 160R to meet BS6 emission norms.
The Honda CB Hornet 200R teased in the video might have taken design cues from the CBF 190R that the Japanese manufacturer had patented in India, what with its angular headlight and sharp styling.
However, the styling is not expected to be an exact derivative. We also hope that the design has been changed well enough to differentiate it well from the smaller engined Hornet.
Engine-wise, the motorcycle is expected to get a 200cc mill, which, as shown in the video, is air-cooled. However, it does get HET and will meet the latest emission norms.
Power figures are expected to be in the 20 HP region as it will compete against bikes such as the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 and the Hero Xtreme 200R.
Expected price is around Rs. 1.3 lakhs (ex-showroom) mark, since even the X-Blade is priced well over Rs. 1 lakh. However, Honda might throw in features like smartphone connectivity to justify the price. We will get answers to our questions in a few days’ time.
