Honda will be extending its dealer network in the country to around 150 cities and will have over 230 facilities operational by the end of the current financial year.
Honda Cars India has been on a roll with three back-to-back hits in the domestic market including the Amaze compact sedan, City executive sedan and the Mobilio MPV. After a long hiatus, the Japanese manufacturer was finally able to reclaim its top spot in the C-segment sedan space and sales all over have been doing consistently well for the company. Now, in a bid expand further and reach out to more customers in the Indian market, Honda will be expanding its dealership network in the country to 230 facilities across 150 cities.
Honda India currently has 195 dealers spread across 127 cities and registered an impressive year-on-year growth compared to competition. Riding high with the success of the City and Mobilio, the company registered an overall growth of 48 percent during the April-September period of the current financial year. The company states to have sold over 88,200 units during the aforementioned period. The company’s new found success can be attributed to the new 1.5-litre diesel engine that brought much needed respite to the company.
Honda currently sells a range of vehicles including the Brio hatchback, Amaze, City, Mobilio as well as the CR-V SUV. Apart from the Brio and CR-V, all other models get the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine that offers power and frugality in the same space. With petrol and diesel fuel price difference reducing, Honda stated that the company did not see any change in the demand for diesel cars but the demand for petrol powered cars has surely gone up compared to a few months ago. The automaker’s next set of launches include the next generation Jazz, new Brio based compact SUV and the new generation Accord sedan that will be launched next year onwards.
