Honda’s upcoming compact SUV based on the Brio platform, the BR-V will most likely feature better quality interiors than the Mobilio MPV as it will be a more premium product.
Honda had recently released the official sketches of the upcoming BR-V compact SUV. BR-V which stands for ‘Bold Runabout Vehicle’ and will make its concept debut at the Gaikindo Indonesian International Auto Show (GIIAS) which will be held in August 2015. The vehicle which looks very aggressive judging from the sketches, does not share many characteristics with the Brio and Amaze although there are many design elements in common with the Mobilio. The compact SUV’s butch looks will be its main selling point in addition to Honda’s brand image in India.
However, not much is known about the vehicle’s interiors till now. According to the company, details regarding the same will only get clearer when it is displayed at the GIIAS in Indonesia. Not revealing any additional details, the Honda Director of marketing and sales service did not deny when asked whether the BR-V’s interiors will be better than the Mobilio or not, thereby, giving us sufficient knowledge that so will be the case because the BR-V will be a more premium product than the Mobilio MPV.
The BR-V will also be bigger than the Mobilio in terms of dimensions, but will be smaller than the HR-V (Vezel) which was expected to be brought to India. This means that the upcoming compact SUV will be priced in the sub Rs. 10 lakhs range (ex-showroom) and will go head on with the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, Mahindra Scorpio, Tata Safari, Ford EcoSport and the forthcoming Maruti S-Cross and Hyundai Creta in the segment. Honda has not yet decided whether the BR-V will be retailed in the global market or not given the fact that it it was developed in Thailand and Indonesia. However, it is expected to enter the Indian car market late next year.
