You read this first on MotorBeam. Honda recently added a new trim to the Amaze lineup in the form of SX. The Japanese automaker will now add more features in the Honda Amaze as it looks to maintain sales in the highly competitive sub 4-metre compact sedan segment. This year, Honda will have to face tough competition as not only Tata Motors (the company which first came up with the compact sedan idea) but even Hyundai is looking at entering this segment with the Falcon 5 and Grand i10 sedan respectively. This is sure to crowd the segment which is currently dominated by the Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire.
The Swift DZire will get a minor facelift later this year wherein it will get a push button start, keyless entry, Bluetooth connectivity, etc. Hyundai’s Grand i10 sedan will come fully loaded and Honda will have to up the game to maintain market position. The Grand i10 hatchback has shown what value for money can do to the market, it has become Hyundai’s best seller in no time and going by the same, the sedan version is going to rob market share away from established rivals. Hyundai will unveil the Grand i10 sedan on 4th February.
The Honda Amaze lacks quite a few features found on its rivals. These basic features are not expected to be missing on the top spec variant of the car. Features like auto locking doors and Bluetooth connectivity will be added to the Honda Amaze post the launch of the Grand i10 sedan. This way Honda feels it can lure buyers to its fold by continuing to offer value. The Amaze has become Honda’s best seller in India as the car is priced attractively while offering loads of space and a diesel engine, which is the most powerful in the compact sedan space.
