The new generation Honda Amaze will get completely redesigned exterior & interior

The next generation Honda Amaze is set to make its global debut in December 2024, with deliveries expected to commence by January 2025. Originally slated for an earlier release to coincide with the festive season, the launch has been rescheduled. This marks the third generation of the Amaze, replacing the popular second generation model that has been in the market since 2018.

The upcoming Amaze will undergo significant changes, boasting fresh looks both inside and out. It will be built on a modified version of the platform that supports the Honda City and Elevate. However, to adhere to the sub-four-meter length category, the Amaze will feature a shorter wheelbase compared to the City and Elevate, which have wheelbases of 2600 mm and 2650 mm, respectively. The current Amaze’s wheelbase stands at 2470 mm, and the new model is expected to have a similar dimension, aligning with the compact sedan standards in India.

Styling cues are expected to draw inspiration from larger Honda sedans sold globally. Inside, the cabin is likely to see a refreshed layout, potentially incorporating a larger, free-standing touchscreen similar to the one found in the Honda Elevate. By sharing components with other Honda models, the new Amaze aims to keep production costs manageable.

The next gen Honda Amaze will continue to be powered by the 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine delivers 90 HP and 110 Nm of torque and will be available with a choice of a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission. The new Amaze will be a petrol-only offering, as Honda has ceased production of diesel engines in India.

The compact sedan segment faces stiff competition from the growing popularity of compact SUVs and hot hatchbacks. A considerable portion of sub-4-meter sedan sales are attributed to the taxi market. The new Honda Amaze will continue to compete with the Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor. The Dzire is also getting a new generation update soon.

Amid a slowdown in sedan sales, Honda Cars India has revised its production targets for the new Amaze, reducing the projected annual volume by 30% from an initial estimate of 56,000 units to 40,000 units. Despite these challenges, the Amaze remains a crucial model for Honda in India, accounting for nearly 25% of the company’s total sales.
