Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India is gearing up to launch the 2021 CB500X in India by April as it looks set to increase the number of its premium offerings in the country.
This development comes soon after the launch of the 2021 CB350RS, during which President, MD and CEO of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) Atsushi Ogata revealed that he personally prefers 500cc motorcycles.
Although he did not commit to anything, he also did not deny that a 500cc motorcycle might be coming to India. And here we are, with reports that the Japanese firm is bringing a twin-cylinder 500cc (almost) motorcycle, an adventure one at that, to the market soon.
The 2021 CB500X comes with a minimalist look, featuring only necessary body panels and has a commuter bike presence, which is no coincidence, for Honda claims that it is an everyday rider that is capable of doing so much more.
Some of the design is inspired by the Africa Twin, while for 2021, the motorcycle gets updated graphics and there is a tall windscreen too.
Featuring full LED lighting and a negative-display LCD cluster, like most modern bikes, the adventure motorcycle does come with adjustable long travel suspension and staggered wheel setup.
At the heart of it all, is the, errr heart, a 471cc twin-cylinder one to be precise. Putting out 47 PS and 43 Nm, the motor is mated to a 6-speed transmission with assist and slipper clutch.
To keep things from getting out of control, the CB500X comes with a 310 mm front disc with a 2-piston caliper and a 240 mm rear disc with a single piston caliper, while dual channel ABS is fitted as standard.
When it comes to the cost, which will be announced during the 2021 Honda CB500X launch event, obviously, the motorcycle is expected to carry a premium price tag.
