Honda Africa Twin 250cc Model Under Development

This is the design rendering of the quarter-litre adventure tourer

Honda is supposedly developing a 250cc Africa Twin at present and it is expected to look like a scaled down version of the Africa Twin 1100.

A couple of months ago we had reported that Honda is working on a 850cc Africa Twin model and that it might get launched as soon as next year. It looks like that bike is not the only new adventure motorcycle that is currently under development at Honda.

This new 250cc bike, expected to be derived from the current generation CRF250L/Rally is likely to look like a scaled-down version of the top-of-the-range adventure tourer and thus will have similar-looking headlights, fairing and fenders like the 1100.

Having a quarter-litre motorcycle in the ADV category will help Honda combat Suzuki’s V-Strom 250, and also form a comprehensive range of Africa Twins including the above-mentioned 850cc model.

But, while the 850cc version is all but expected to be confirmed by Honda, the 250cc Africa Twin is just a rendering at the moment. But, we can expect Honda to grasp any opportunity that is presented before it to dominate a segment.

In terms of hardware, since the Africa Twin 250 is expected to come in road- and adventure-oriented forms, it is expected to feature a 19-inch front wheel for the former and 21-inch front rim for the latter.

Expected to be unveiled by next year, the Honda Africa Twin 250cc will sport a 249cc liquid-cooled motor that will be Euro 5-compliant and BS6-compliant too, that will produce around 25 HP of peak power.
