Honda Activa 5G scooter has been showcased at the Auto Expo; gets LED headlamp and more.
Having sold over 3.4 crore units in India over the years, the Honda Activa has established itself as a leader in 110cc scooter segment. The Japanese brand has showcased a total of 11 products at the ongoing 2018 Auto Expo which includes new product launches as well as updated versions of its current product line. As an update to the Activa 4G which was launched in March last year, the Honda Activa 5G has been showcased at the event with some cosmetic changes and several feature additions.
To start with, the Activa 5G retains the basic silhouette of the erstwhile generation with clean and inoffensive styling. Apart from chrome garnish on the front centre cover, the scooter now gets a full LED headlamp and position lamps which is a first-in-the-segment feature. The plastic muffler protector of the outgoing generation has been replaced with a steel protector and the company has added two new colour options – Dazzle Yellow Metallic and Pearl Spartan Red.
Suspended on conventional trailing arm suspension at the front and single shock absorber at the rear, the Activa 5G gets few elements such as front hook, 4-in-1 lock with seat opener switch and a retractable rear hook. Powered by a BS4-compliant 110cc HET engine, the vehicle produces 8 HP of power at 7500 RPM and 9 Nm of torque at 5500 RPM. The scooter rides on 10-inch wheels and gets drum brakes at either end with Combi-Braking System (CBS).
Honda will introduce a new Deluxe variant with digital-analog meter console, ECO speed indicator and Service Due indicator as well. Honda currently sells the Activa 4G at Rs. 53,079/- (ex-showroom, Mumbai) and the fifth-gen model is expected to be launched in India soon without any significant price change.
