Honda Activa 125 BS6 is launched with some redesigned elements and is India’s first BS6-compliant scooter.
The Honda Activa has quite a reputation going for it. For a scooter first launched in 1999, it has aged rather well. With each update and refresh, Honda has improved the Activa and now the company has launched its first 2-wheeler which will meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms.
The new Activa 125 BS6 is launched at Rs. 67,490/- (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is slightly longer, wider and taller than its predecessor. The new scooter measures 1850 mm in length, 707 mm in width, 1170 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 1260 mm.
The Activa 125 BS6 is powered by a 125cc HET BS6 PGM-FI engine which comes with a fuel injector, an ACG starter for silent starts, an idle stop-start system and a side stand indicator with engine inhibitor. The BS6-compliant engine makes 8.29 PS as opposed to 8.63 PS of the outgoing model.
Along with a new engine, the Activa 125 BS6 also comes with an external fuel filler cap, a four-in-one ignition switch, redesigned chrome chest and redesigned LED headlamps. Honda is offering a 6-year warranty (3-year standard + 3-year extended) on this new model.
The Japanese automaker is offering a front-disc and alloy-wheels as options beyond the base model. The price of Rs. 2478/- over the top-spec disc variant of the current model seems to be worth it as it has the bragging rights of being the first to get compatible with BS6 norms in its competition.
