Honda Achieves E20 Compliance Across Its Model Range

Honda Elevate Black Edition 4

Honda becomes the first carmaker to achieve full E20 fuel compliance

Honda has achieved E20 (20% Ethanol Blended) Compliance across all of its model ranges since January 1, 2009. The current range comprises the Honda Elevate, Honda City e: HEV, Honda City and Honda Amaze. This certification highlights Honda’s commitment to a sustainable future and towards the Indian Market by complying with its emission norms.

What Is E20 Compliance?

The Government of India has mandated that all petrol-powered, bi-fuel, and mono-fuel vehicles with positive ignition engines, manufactured on or after April 1, 2025, must be certified for E20 (20% Ethanol Blended) fuel. This fuel, as the name suggests, uses more ethanol which is a renewable form of energy, making it more sustainable and reducing the dependence on imported crude oil.

Importance Of E20 Fuel

The E20 Fuel consists of 80% Petrol and 20% Ethanol which helps in reducing carbon emissions and aiding curb Air Pollution, one of the major problems in crowded Indian Cities. Unfortunately, the E20 fuel hasn’t been kind to older cars and required replacing of certain car parts. This means that customers don’t need to worry about the E20 fuel damaging components like fuel lines and giving worse performance than before.

Importance For Honda

This makes Honda the first manufacturer to achieve this certification across its lineup. This is even better news for used car buyers as they can purchase any Honda car which is made on or after January 1, 2009, and not worry about the issue.

Honda, as a brand, is known for its durability and dependability and this certification may help to boost sales. Overall, this is a commendable achievement and it would be a great opportunity for Honda to build upon and bring some much-needed fun into their vehicles as well.
