InterGlobe which recently launched the Ariel Atom in India has also launched German motorcycle company Hollister in the country. Hollister makes customer made cruiser motorcycles, which to be honest are quite low slung for Indian roads. Built completely by hand, Hollister offers tons of exclusivity to the buyer. However, these bikes don’t come cheap and the base model starts at Rs. 20 lakhs, with the cost of customization being further added to the price. The ESTD (Interglobe automobile company) showcased the Custom Twin Special, which costs around Rs. 40 lakhs (inclusive of all duties and taxes).
The Hollister Custom Twin Special is powered by a 1442 cc, Rec Tech 088 engine which produces 60 BHP of peak power. The bike uses a Mikni carb and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. But remember, cruisers were never about acceleration or top speed and the Custom Twin Special carries forward this trend. Once you order your machine, it can take upto six months for it to arrive. Other than the sheer uniqueness of these bikes, there is not much for which someone would want to shell out fourth big ones, I know I wouldn’t!
