The top-selling 200-500cc bikes in March 2018 list sees the usual Royal Enfield domination, the company’s bikes hold a near 64% share in the top-selling list below.
Without a doubt, the premium bike and scooter segment are two tremendously growing segments in India. Recent product launches including the Bajaj Dominar 400, Yamaha FZ25 (and the Fazer 25) and the TVS Apache RR 310 are testimony to the above-mentioned statement. The 200-500cc bikes segment is currently being dominated by Royal Enfield with the Classic 350 being the company’s best-seller. March has been quite dull in terms of sales for the 200-500cc bikes segment in India and a look at the above table makes it evident.
The five Royal Enfield bikes in the list cumulatively account for over 60% of 200-500cc motorcycle sales in India. The Classic 350 continues to sell like hotcakes while Himalayan’s sales have seen a slight downfall. The adventure bike sold 907 units last month as opposed to 942 units in February 2018. Bajaj bikes have posted a negative growth in sales while KTM bikes have maintained their volumes. The Pune-based automaker sold a total of 13,459 units of the Pulsar 180, NS 200 and RS 200 while the Pulsar 220 and Avenger series (includes 180 and 220cc variants) managed to sell 7339 and 10,622 units respectively. The company’s flagship offering, the Dominar, sold 1561 units in March as opposed to 1982 units in February 2018.
On the other hand, the Duke 200 and RC 200 cumulatively sold 2482 units whereas the Duke 250 sold 437 units in March 2018. TVS Apache RR 310 outsells the KTM 390 twins by selling 983 units. Japanese automaker Yamaha sold 2036 units (cumulatively) of the FZ25 and Fazer 25 while the BS-4 Yamaha R3 found 96 takers. Kawasaki sold 115 units of the Ninja 300 and just 2 units of the Z250. The newly launched Versys-X 300 found just 1 home in March 2018. Honda recently launched the BS-4 compliant CBR250R and the sports tourer registered sales of 80 units.
